Julie Turner Beard is a lifelong resident of Montgomery and of District 2. She was educated in the Montgomery Public School system at Morningview Elementary, Capitol Heights Junior High, and Robert E. Lee High School. Julie earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her master’s degree from Troy University. After retiring from the Montgomery Public School system with 28 years of service, her passion for the classroom and supporting our youth led her to Success Unlimited Academy for the past 10 years. Through the years of growing up in Montgomery, having a successful career as an educator and raising her family, Julie continues to recognize the importance of a strong city, its rich heritage and its legacy. As the daughter of former three term District 2 City Councilman Billy M. Turner, she is passionate about the city her parents greatly loved and served as well. With her strong leadership skills, her loyalty to the community she has lived in for 64 years, and the desire to serve District 2, Julie is ready to take on a new role to serve Montgomery.

Julie is dedicated to sparking positive change in her community through volunteering and assuming leadership roles in a number of organizations. She currently serves as a Commissioner with the Montgomery Housing Authority and is the President of the Dalraida Community Association. Her community involvement also includes: actively volunteering with MACOA's Meals on Wheels Program, participating in prayer walks with ONE Montgomery, and Stop the Violence walks with the Office of Crime Prevention. As an educator, Julie continues to lead students in community service projects with the Montgomery Area Food Bank, LifeSouth Community Blood Center, and the Montgomery Cancer Center. She is an active member of First Baptist Church. Julie and her husband, John, have been married for 24 years with a combined family of four sons and six grandchildren.

Julie’s faith has placed it on her heart to pursue the same calling that her father answered and devoting her life to service to her community. Recognizing that Montgomery has many strengths, but many challenges as well, she is committed to diligently representing the needs and desires of District 2 residents. With a servant's heart and a listening ear, Julie is ready to step up to the plate to devote her time and energy to the city of Montgomery.
